What affects
the price of garments?
Pricing on your custom
printed apparel is affected by: the total quantity being
printed; the cost of the garment being printed; the color of
the garment you select; the number of ink colors used in
your artwork; and the number of print locations on the
garment.
Can I
combine different styles of garments on my order?
Yes, as long as the
items you order can be set up on the same press, you many
combine any number of styles to get the quantity price
break. For example, if you order 24 red t-shirts, 24 blue
t-shirts, 14 green sweatshirts and 10 black tank tops, your
total order will be for 72 shirts.
Can I
combine different colors of garments on my order?
Yes, mix up your order
as much as you like. As long as you use the same art and the
ink colors you choose don’t change, there will be no
additional charges. So have fun with it!
If you require different
color inks to be used on the different colored shirts, there
will be a nominal charge to stop the presses mid-run, clean
the screens and re-ink with another color.
Where are
the quantity breaks?
The price breaks for
screen printing are –
12-23
24-71
72-143
144-287
288-499
500-999
1000-2499
2500-4999
5000 +
other printing or methods of customizing
may have different quantity
breaks. Please call or contact us for quotes
Do you
embroider?
Yes, we embroider all
types of apparel, tote bags and hats.
Since embroidery pricing
is based upon stitch counts, we’ll need to see your art to
give you a quote. Email or fax us your art and we’ll get
back to you with pricing.
What is the
minimum order?
There is no minimum
order for heat transfer or sublimation.
For screen printed
orders, the minimum is 12.
For embroidery orders,
the minimum is 24.
You may combine any
number of shirt colors or styles to meet minimums.
How large
should my logo or image be?
There really are no set
standards. We recommend that you print your image onto paper
in a number of different sizes. Place the images one at a
time in the location on your garment where you’d like it
printed. Use a live body rather than laying it flat on a
table, so you can see how the shirt will look as someone
wears it.
If I need a wide range of sizes, such as youth and adult,
can my design be scaled so it looks proportionate to each
size?
Yes, in
fact in many cases it is necessary since smaller youth sizes
will not fit on the same press as larger adult sizes. To
print a different size of your design will require a
separate set of screens for each design size. Each different
size will require a new setup and will be charged
accordingly.
Can you help
with design?
Sure. We’re happy to
help. For simple design work (requiring less than 1/2 hour)
or basic typesetting there is no charge. If you require more
involved help, all art design or prep work is billed at
$30/hr.
What is the
largest print area?
Obviously, print areas
will differ from item to item, but this may help…
We can screen print to a
maximum area of 15.25” X 15.25”
The maximum size for
heat transfers is 8 ½” X 14”
Does black
count as an ink color?
Yes, count black as well
as white when figuring the number of ink colors in your
design. In some cases, the shirt colors might be utilized,
for example if there is black in your design and you are
printing on black shirts, we may not need to print with
black ink.
We can help you in
determining whether this is possible upon viewing your art.
Do you match Pantone (PMS)
colors?
Yes, we will mix ink to
match your Pantone color for no additional charge.
Can you
print photographs on garments?
Yes. There are three
processes we use for printing photographs.
For smaller runs we use
thermo wax inks to print transfers digitally and then heat
transfer the image onto the garment.
For polyester or
synthetic garments we sublimate the image onto the garments,
also using digital images and a heat transfer process.
For larger runs (of over
244 pieces) we can screen print your photos onto garments.
Please note, since the process of screen printing onto
garments is highly technical and somewhat more sophisticated
than basic “spot” screen printing, we use a different
pricing structure other than our standard screen printing
pricing.
What is your
turn around time?
Once final art has been
approved..
The normal turn around
time for screen printing is 2 weeks, but in a pinch we can
usually get orders out quicker than that. Best bet is to
call to see if we can accommodate a faster regular turn
around. For an additional charge, screen printed orders can
be expedited to be completed within 3 business days.
The normal turn around
time for embroidery is 2 weeks.
The normal turn around
time for heat transfers is 1-2 days (though we’ve been known
to get heat transfer orders done same day!)
What forms
of payment do you accept?
Sorry, we do not take
credit cards. Checks, made out to ScreenPlay and of course
good ‘ol cash are the forms of payment we take.
Do you ship?
Yes. We use UPS for all
shipping.
Can we
supply the shirts for you?
Sure. Bring us what
you’ve got, but it’s possible that we may be able to get the
shirts for you at a lower price, saving you money in the
end, so it’s worth asking for an estimate including the
shirt price before ordering.
Why do dark
shirts cost more?
Dark shirts are more
expensive to buy blank. Additionally, they require more ink
for a higher quality print.
How do I get my art or photos to you?
All
artwork or photos can be sent to either
artwork@screenplay1.com or to
Debbie@screenplay1.com
In what
format do you accept art and how should it be prepared?
Here are our
Art and Electronic file specifications:
Although camera ready
art is preferred, we can work with your art in any stage of
development. For an additional cost, we will scan, recreate
or “clean-up” art that is not considered camera ready.
We gladly accept camera ready art that
was created on the computer. The information below will help
you to prepare your artwork so that problems (or additional
costs) can be avoided in preparing your films. These are
general guidelines. Specific questions about your art can
only be answered after viewing your image. Please feel free
to email your art to
artwork@screenplay1.com
for us to review.
When printing camera
ready art from digital files, it is important that your file
be constructed properly. Screen printing textile
requirements are very different than those for printing on
paper.
We accept the following
types of files: Adobe Illustrator (preferred), Photoshop,
EPS, JPG, TIFF" please add after "TIFF" "(high resolution)
Please be sure that all
fonts are converted to outlines or curves before sending us
your files.
Powerpoint, Word or any
word processing program are not acceptable programs
for preparing art.
When sending us your
art, please include location, size and imprint colors to
avoid any mistakes or unproductive time.
Web Images: Most
images that are displayed on web sites are created at very
low resolution in order to transfer or download quickly.
Typically web site graphics are 72 dpi and physically small
(only 1-3 inches wide).
Images for screen
printing must be at least 300 dpi at the size you wish it to
be printed on the garment. The resolution (dpi – dots per
inch) is critical. If the image is lower than 300dpi, it
will not be as crisp in quality when printed. The quality of
the print can only be as good as the quality of the image
you give us.
Half Tones: We
use halftone line screens between 35 lpi (lines per inch)
and 65 lpi. When combining solid line art images (bold type
or graphics) and fine halftones, in the same design/ink
color, we are often required to separate them and print them
independently. This requires the use of two films and two
screens for that one ink color.
